What we build
Delta Plus Proto designs and assembles rugged off-grid communication hardware in Illinois. Everything starts on our own bench: the electronics, the enclosures and the firmware setup.
The NPH-1 is machined from solid aluminum and built to stay on the mesh for weeks at a time. The EDICT-HP pushes a purpose-built 1 W RF platform, runs on standard Baofeng UV-5R packs and is fully potted to survive real use. Both run open firmware: Meshtastic or MeshCore, plus Reticulum on the NPH-1 (an EDICT-HP Reticulum build is coming soon).
How it's made
It started with a CNC mill in the shop. Most Meshtastic hardware on the market is 3D-printed or packed into thin plastic, which isn't built to be dropped, soaked or left on a pole through a winter. We wanted radios you could actually depend on, so we started making them ourselves.
Every radio is designed, assembled and tested in-house in Illinois. NPH-1 enclosures are machined on our own CNC equipment; EDICT-HP shells are printed and their plates machined by US suppliers. The circuit boards are the only part made outside the USA.
Open data and firmware
We also give back to the community that makes this possible: our Meshtastic tier list runs on an open dataset anyone can download and correct, and our off-grid guide explains how to stay connected when cell service fails.
Our tools, including the DeltaMeshFlasher desktop flasher, are published on GitHub (opens in a new tab). The radios themselves run open mesh firmware from the Meshtastic, MeshCore and Reticulum projects.
